Prognostic Impact of the Timing of Recurrence of Infarct-Related Ventricular Tachycardia After Catheter Ablation

چکیده
Catheter ablation of ventricular tachycardia (VT) may reduce implantable cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) shocks and improve quality of life, but recurrence of VT after ablation is common and has been shown to be a strong predictor of mortality. However, not all recurrences may confer the same prognostic impact. A previous single-center study indicated that VT recurrence within a few days after ablation is associated with an adverse outcome, but it is unclear whether VT recurrences beyond the early postablation period affect survival to the same extent. The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of the timing of VT recurrence on prognosis in a large multicenter sample of patients who underwent VT ablation for infarct-related VT.

Prognostic Impact of the Timing of Recurrence of Infarct-Related Ventricular Tachycardia After Catheter Ablation.
BACKGROUND Recurrence of ventricular tachycardia (VT) after ablation in patients with previous myocardial infarction is associated with adverse prognosis. However, the impact of the timing of VT recurrence on outcomes is unclear. METHODS AND RESULTS We analyzed data from a multicenter collaborative database of patients who underwent catheter ablation for infarct-related VT. Multivariable Cox ...

PURPOSE OF REVIEW This article summarizes current understanding of the arrhythmia substrate and effect of catheter ablation for infarct-related ventricular tachycardia, focusing on recent findings. RECENT FINDINGS Clinical studies support the use of catheter ablation earlier in the course of ischemic disease with moderate success in reducing arrhythmia recurrence and shocks from implantable d...
متن کاملCorrelates and prognosis of early recurrence after catheter ablation for ventricular tachycardia due to structural heart disease.
BACKGROUND Catheter ablation for ventricular tachycardia (VT) from structural heart disease has a significant risk of recurrence, but the optimal duration for in-hospital monitoring is not defined. This study assesses the timing, correlates, and prognostic significance of early VT recurrence after ablation. METHODS AND RESULTS Of 370 patients (313 men; aged 63.0±13.2 years) who underwent a fi...
متن کاملNoninducibility and late potential abolition: a novel combined prognostic procedural end point for catheter ablation of postinfarction ventricular tachycardia.
BACKGROUND Successful late potential (LP) abolition and postprocedural ventricular tachycardia (VT) noninducibility constitute significant end points after catheter ablation for VT. We investigated the prognostic impact of a combined procedural end point of VT noninducibility and LP abolition in a large series of post-myocardial infarction patients with VT. METHODS AND RESULTS A total of 160 ...
متن کاملArrhythmias in Patients With Pulmonary Hypertension; A Narrative Review of the Current Literature
Incidence and prognostic relevance of supraventricular arrhythmias were evaluated in nine studies. These studies investigated patients with different forms of pulmonary hypertension. Supraventricular arrhythmias were more often found in patients with group two pulmonary hypertension. Common findings in these patients were elevated right atrial pressure and diameters and reduced tricuspid annula...
